I saw this on Youtube which is a good example of what I was talking about here. . .

It's an extreme solution utilizing the whole windshield, and adding info. such as car speed, showing road boundaries in different colors, etc. . . This solution takes it further eliminating the need for speed signs, crosswalks, in addition to the traffic signal devices. I see each intersection having a control box which would send the signal to incoming cars and instructing them what to do via the reciever in the dash, and then showing it on the windshield.
Thank you!
No more traffic lights
Imagine a world without hanging traffic lights. . .

I guess the whole idea came from a trend I noticed towards "transparency". As an architect, I am seeing homes being equipped with systems that are hidden such as outlets, a/c registers, speakers hidden behind wall panels, or up in the attic space. Hidden, or "transparent" light fixtures, switches, TV's, etc. I saw a 60 min. show with Martin Cooper, the one who brought us the cell phone back in the late seventies. He saw the perfect cell phone, if I recall correctly, being one you don't hold. It would be somewhere behind your ear, or just a chip under the skin by your ear where you would just speak normally, and the the sound coming in would be sent to your ear. . . .Pretty cool concept, except no more cool camera, or apps to play with. The idea is that technology becomes transparent.
Hi everyone. . . The blog is not really about having no traffic lights. . .the world would be a wreck! Like a demolition derby. . . We need traffic devices to keep some sense of order on the streets for vehicles and pedestrians. Think of what happens when the power goes out in an area with traffic lights. We become cavepeople or something. For some reason using the rule: "the person who arrives to the stoplight gets to go first" is a concept too difficult to apply.
So here is my idea: Instead of the physical traffic lights we see lovingly hanging over each intersection, adding charm to our cities (sorry for the sarcasm), each car will have a "heads-up" display that will show on our windshield, the proper color light, or turn arrow that applies to our car as it approaches the intersection. I have some details worked out, and many more to be worked out. I will definitely need help getting this idea accepted to local municipalities and Dept. of Transportations of each state.
I will post more later. . . Thank you!
